A Few Things to Know
About Insurance-1.
When purchasing insurance, increasing your collision deductible has a large
impact on your premiums. So by all means, set your collision deductible
as high as you can afford in the event of a loss.
2.
On the other hand, increasing your comprehensive deductible has very little
impact on your premiums. For example, if you have a $500.00 comprehensive
deductible and you reduce it to $100.00 you will probably see an increase of $30.00
annually. Check with your agent for exact amounts, they may vary from company
to company. Comprehensive losses are things such as cracked windshields,
deer losses and grocery cart dings. 3.
Another area to check on your policy is to see if you have rental car insurance.
In the event of a big loss you could be without your car for a month. This
insurance is very affordable. Check with your agent for details and cost. 4.
On the subject of after market parts and your insurance policy. Most
policies have wording in them that will allow your company to figure after market
parts on your damage estimate. However, many insurance companies have ceased
from using these parts. If you have doubts concerning this simply ask your
agent if in the event you were to have a loss, would your company figure these
parts. We here at Precision Collision try to negotiate with the dealers
to be able to use OEM parts even if after market parts are on the estimate.
Even though this will give up some parts profit our main goal is quality of repair. 5.
In closing, the cheapest premiums are not always the best. When shopping
rates be sure the quotes you are getting are for the same coverages and deductibles. Things
